Beginning Knitters

450 yds (5 Skeins) Recycled Silk
450 yds Springy Capelli (or Kid Mohair)
Bumble Bee 100 yds
Cotton Ribbon 100 yds
Lurex Ribbon 75 yds


Instructions are for One Size

Finished Size of Each Rectangle: 29" x 17" without fringe
* Be sure gauge is correct or you might run out of yarn

US #13 Needles to give proper gauge

* Gauge: 9 sts = 4" / 13 rows = 4" 9
Stockinette Stitch

Note: Use two strands of yarn throughout: 1 strand of Springy Capelli and 1 strand of Recycled Silk or Novelty Yarn Alternate Recycled Silk and Novelty Yarn (Bumble Bee and Ribbons) every 4 to 5 rows

Note: Always knit with two strands of yarn, one will be the recycled silk the second will be one of the novelty yarns. Change the novelty yarn every 2Ó or 3Ó.

Poncho: US #13 Needles - to give correct gauge *Gauge: Stockinette Stitch 9 sts = 4" (10cm)
Note: It is important to knit to gauge or you will run out of yarn.
Knitting Instructions: Rectangle #1- CO 65 stitches. Work in stockinette stitch (K1 row, P 1 row), changing embellishment yarn randomly as desired. Knit approximately 50 rows, or until 17". BO.

Repeat to make rectangle #2.

Finishing: Sew or Crochet to attach end of rectangle #1 to first 17" of CO edge of rectangle #2. Attach end of rectangle #2 to last 17"edge of rectangle #1.

Fringe: Measure and Cut Fringe: Cut 16" strands of all novelty yarns and Recycled Silk.
Attach Fringe: Knot fringe every 1.5" on all lower edges of poncho
